OUR PROJECTS

  • Dye tracer injection in surface water

    De Watergroep - Diksmuide

Characterisation of a surface water network through tracer testing to improve water supply management.

This involves hydrological analysis of connectivity and flow velocity, supported by a high resolution monitoring network of 12 STREAM® fluorometers.

  • Dye tracing for tunnelling and ground freezing project.

Metro 3 - Brussels SM Toots - STIB

Hydrogeological expertise for the construction of a metro tunnel using a ground freezing technique.

This includes characterisation of groundwater flow in alluvial layers using tracer tests, pumping well tests and natural flow conditions. Key aspects include determination of permeability, effective porosity, flow velocity, hydrogeological modelling and piezometric monitoring.

  • Leak detection in an artificial lake using multi-tracer testing and our multi-parameter STREAM fluorometer.

    Fondasol - Paris

Leak detection in an artificial pond in the Paris region using multi-hydrogeological tracing with different tracers to locate the leak and optimise repair work.

  • Tracer test for leak detection in a sewer system

    Idrabel - Pepinster

Characterisation of flows in a sewer system using tracer tests and in-situ monitoring to detect leaks after heavy inundations and to optimise the use of organic sanitation products.

  • Fluorescent dye tracer injection to detect potential karst features in chalk geology as part of a risk assessment for a French water producer.

    CA2BM - Montreuil (France)

Characterisation of potential karst features in chalk in a well field producing 2 million m³/year through dye tracing, monitoring in production wells and natural sources to manage organic contamination risks.

  • Hydrological study of an old industrial site to be repurposed for housing development. Integration of groundwater flows, analysis of permeability, and rainwater infiltration.

    REVIVE - Flanders

Hydrological and hydrogeological consultancy for real estate projects, including studies on flood hazards, stormwater management, and risk management in flood zones.

  • Association of Walloon Producers (SOCOPRO)

Assessment of groundwater availability for a Walloon cooperative hatchery project, including hydrogeological study, flow measurements, dye tracing, resource assessment and analysis of water supply from groundwater catchment.

  • Urban planning projects - Belgium

A hydrological study for an urban planning permit can include a flood hazard analysis, water management (stormwater, wastewater, reclaimed water), assessment of site constraints (geology, hydrology, hydrogeology), permeability testing, flow measurements and dimensioning of infiltration or buffer systems.

We can also provide project assessment and advice on flood mitigation and stormwater basin design.

  • Dye tracing in open loop geothermal system

    AGT - Brussels

Dye tracing in an open-loop geothermal doublet to compare model predictions with real data and to optimise the geothermal system.

Fluorescent dye tracing helps map subsurface flow paths and provides real-time data on groundwater movement, especially in complex environments.

  • Infiltration and storage at Plateau de Gerny - Rochefort

Ville de Rochefort & Kick - Rochefort

Tracer test to obtain detailed knowledge of the hydrogeology of a karst system in order to implement water buffer measures.

These nature-based solutions would reduce the risk of flooding and allow the water table to be recharged.

  • Fluorescent tracer injection karst

    CWEPPS - Wallonia

Dye tracing to determine preferential flow paths and infiltration rates to assess groundwater vulnerability to nitrate pollution in karst systems as part of the EpuKarst project.

The study aims to provide recommendations for the protection of water resources, particularly in Wallonia.

  • Injection of a fluorescent dye in a sinkhole resulting from karst features.

    Loverval - Karst risk assessment

Dye tracing and hydrogeological study as part of a karst risk assessment.

A sinkhole and karst featured were analysed to assess the risk to a nearby road and other infrastructure.

  • Tracer test as part of a hydrogeological study for an aquifer storage and recovery project in chalk.

Sint-Truiden - ASR in Chalk (NatalieProject)

Fluorescent dye tracing to determine if the hydrogeological conditions meet the requirements for an Aquifer Storage and Recovery project in chalk.

The project is part of the NatalieProject, an EU-funded initiative that promotes nature-based solutions (NBS).

  • Picture of Maurel injecting water in a plastic infiltration tube to test the permeability of the soil.

    Permeability (infiltration) tests

Falling (or variable) Head Permeability tests carried out at the request of architects or projects developers, in order to determine the possibility of rainwater infiltration as part of their urban planning application.

Knowing the permeability of underground structures is important in many circumstances, including rainwater management, construction, remediation, and groundwater management.

  • Picture of Romain installing a turbidity monitoring hub.

Aquathermal energy project - turbidity monitoring

Installation of several STREAM fluorometers / turbidimeters in a canal for turbidity monitoring as part of a feasability study.

Turbidity is an important factor in aquathermal projects. High turbidity and fouling can reduce the efficiency of heat exchangers and clog filters, valves, and pumps, or have an abrasive effect on the system.
